When buying heavy-duty construction equipment such as a concrete saw, you do not always have to shell out a large sum of money for a brand new product. Buying brand new items definitely has its perks but you can also save a lot of money by buying secondhand. One good place to scour for used concrete saw is on eBay. eBay is an international online marketplace and you will be amazed at the range of construction supplies that you can find there. Of course, purchasing a concrete saw online can be a tricky business so here are some tips to help you navigate it successfully.

1. Check the seller’s background. You need to be patient in going through feedback from previous buyers and you need to ensure that the seller has been an eBay user for quite some time. A concrete saw is not something you normally sell online if you are an eBay first timer, so double check your prospective seller’s history. Also, you need to check if the seller is indeed familiar with construction equipment. The criteria for judging a usable concrete saw requires an expert, or at least a professional, to determine.

2. Ask the right questions. How long has the concrete saw been used before it was put up on sale? Who previously owned it? Why is it being sold? Purchasing a concrete saw, even a secondhand one, will still cost you a considerable amount of money and you have to make sure that it is a sound investment. Do not rely on photos. Set up a meeting with the seller and ask to see the concrete saw.

3. Do not focus on one concrete saw. Finding used concrete saws on eBay may not be as easy as finding used designer bags but you still have choices. Do not get overly attached to an item just because you feel you will never find another one similar to it again. You might end up bidding more than you should. Unless you absolutely need or want that particular concrete saw, you will find that there are hundreds of used cutoff saws available for you to choose from.

4. Try bidding on the last minute. This way, the other bidders cannot see your bid and react to it by bidding more (which, in effect, will “force” you to bid more).

Once you’ve got your secondhand concrete saw, try investing in brand new concrete saw blades for use with it to achieve better cutting performance.
