Power tools require different methods of care. To prolong any kind of product we own, we must regularly clean and perform other preventive methods to make sure we maximize its usage. A concrete saw is an example of a power tool that requires regular changing of filters. For starters, a concrete saw is used to cut through concrete, masonry, brick, asphalt, tile, and other solid materials. A concrete saw can be powered by gasoline, hydraulic or pneumatic pressure or electricity.
Why is it important to change the filters of a concrete saw? An extremely dirty filter can lead to the breakage of the concrete saw, burning the two strokes because the air will end up finding ways around the filter, bringing dust with it. During the peak of construction season, it is advisable to change the filters at least two times. Otherwise, if the concrete saw is not used as much, changing of filters can depend on the number of hours used, which means that it can only be changed once per season.
Some concrete saws have two filters, the first of which is the oil-impregnated adhesive filter. While it is tempting to use gasoline to clean the filter and simply soak it in 30-weight, it is not advisable to do this because it will only shorten the life of the concrete saw. Instead, spend some money and replace the filter to prolong its life. The money you spend will be worth it because the concrete saw and the filter can be used extensively.
The second filter, on the other hand, is the accordion paper filter. Should you decide on blowing it out, the compressor gun should be on the inside of the filter, shooting outwards. Doing the opposite (shooting inwards) can only bring more dust in the paper and reducing its ability to do its job. If you’d rather purchase a new one, accordion paper filters are relatively inexpensive.
If you have extra time, not only should you clean or change the filter on the concrete saw. Try disassembling the larger parts and clean them too. Some of the parts that should definitely be cleaned are the cooling fan, starter assembly, engine cooling fins, and throttle linkages because they accumulate a lot of dust, which can consequently lead to several problems.
